I have positive impact (2014)

Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) and City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) released six new Art Recycling Trucks in 2014 that had been transformed into mobile artworks by local artists in partnership with HAA.

“I Have a Positive Impact” is a patchwork quilt of recycled materials left over from previous soft sculpture works. The individual pieces for each of the four sides were digitally scanned and printed to wrap the Recycle Truck.

“I utilize various kinds of fabric to create my artwork. Felt, vinyl tablecloth, linen, cotton, etc. are all materials that are cut and sewn into various projects. For some reason, I like to keep the rest pieces from the various projects. Since the Houston Arts Alliance project called for a specific piece for a recycle truck, I decided to recycle the scraps into a quilt – where the shape of the scrap determined placement. Each scrap holds the memory of a previous project, so the recycle truck piece ‘I have positive impact’ is a wonderful culmination and dedication to all of my previous works.”
